Slips, Trips And Falling Leaves

Autumn has always been my favourite time of year.  I love the colours and I love the leaves both on and off the trees, however after rain they can become a death trap for unsuspecting shoppers and walkers.  Special caution should be taken  while negotiating the pavements since the leaves not only become extremely slippery, but they may hide a potential hazard.   Slips, trips and falls are the second most frequent accident leading to personal injury claims with motor vehicle accidents taking first place.  Sometimes it isn’t just the fall which of itself may cause obvious broken bones, but a type of whiplash may occur leaving the person with misalignments of the spine which in the short term may cause  little discomfort, however over time degeneration may result (due to the misalignments) and these are silent – somewhat like tooth decay which is silent until either detected through a routine visit to the dentist or through neglect when the first sign is a toothache.  Neck pain and back pain are often the end result of neglect of  spinal misalignments that may well have been there since birth or early childhood or obtained in the course of daily living. These can be acquired in the following ways:

  • Thoughts (emotional distress)
  • Trauma (slips, trips and falls)
  • Toxins (drugs and chemicals in our environment)

To enjoy a visual feast of Autumn in all its glory visit the bbc website and remember to be extra careful when out and about.
