How should (could) we proceed implementing positive changes to make them permanent in our life?
Over coming weeks we will be sharing some insights about taking some Ridiculously Simple Steps that will positively change your health and therefore your life. When it comes to implementing changes that really last – even one ridiculously simple step can change our health and life. The Japanese call it Kaizen – originally used in factories and production lines. However, by applying it to our everyday lives, over time, we can produce profound results.
If we make and maintain this one commitment to ourselves, by committing to take continuous (ridiculously) simple steps towards self improvement it will naturally help to overcome fears and other psychological barriers often associated with change, such as procrastination and familiar feelings of resistance. It is so natural to want to take big steps, but instead, our challenge should be quite the opposite. Just focus on taking the next ridiculously simple step, and in every step of the way we should aim to ask ourselves the following question :
“How can I take a step so simple and so small that it is impossible for me to fail?”
- By focusing on making the steps as tiny as possible, we guarantee small successes along the way which we can build on and gain momentum from.
- By focusing on continuously answering the above question, the foundation is laid to transform the change into a new habit – which is the best way to implement effortless and sustainable life and health changes.
