Cream Cake WomanGood health is not an accident.

Every choice we make about how we eat, move or think is either taking us closer to our goal of health and vitality or away from it! These are lifestyle choices.

When I was a child I often heard my mother talking about – “people digging their grave with their teeth” and it remained a mystery to me for many years but in the last ten years or so it has become very obvious that people are indeed committing suicide with their teeth. People seem to have lost the ability to recognise how much food is really too much food. We live in a world gone mad with plenty of everything and too much of many things.

It has been said that if we make a fist with our hand we will have a clear indicator of the amount of food we actually need at each meal. No more than that!!

Dense nutritious food.

Our Ridiculously Small Step number five really consists of two very tiny steps which will have far reaching effects on our personal health and the health of our nation.

. Begin using an entrée size plate instead of a dinner plate

. Chew food slowly and well – you will feel satisfied more quickly.

Overeating really is dangerous to our health and is not without consequences. Even if the food is organic and healthy and even if you feel very happy and content while eating – too much is still too much!

Overeating:

* Leads to indigestion and dyspepsia
* Overburdens your system
* Weakens your vital organs
* Decreases your vitality
* Clogs your brain and lowers your productivity
* Makes you irritable and affects your emotions in other negative ways

It takes a lot of energy to digest a meal. When we eat too much, our bodies have to spend a lot of extra time and energy processing all that extra food.

Have you ever wondered why you feel tired and sluggish after eating too much? This is because the digestive organs need even more oxygen and nutrients than normal, and in order to supply this need, the digestive system has to pull oxygen rich blood away from other areas of the body (mainly your muscles and your brain) so there is less available for the more important healing functions in the body.

All you need do to effortlessly introduce The Ridiculously Small Step Number Five today is to change the plates you use at each meal to smaller plates and remember to chew slowly. Simple. Your body will reward you for it.
