It has now been confirmed that the fervent use of antibacterial soaps and other chemical containing anti microbial products has contributed to the escalating problem of antiobiotic resistant bacteria.

Over use of antibiotics in every area of life has led to this growing phenomenon for several years, becoming a real threat to the very people it was meant to protect!  It’s now known that antibiotic resistant infections claim more lives each year than AIDS and cost America alone $20 billion in health care costs.

According to a 2007 study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, more than 18,600 people died from invasive MRSA infections in the United States in 2005 and that is five years ago!  The problem has escalated since then  and that’s just one antibiotic-resistant bug. The list of resistant microbes is steadily growing.

As an individual we can either choose to remain part of the problem or become part of the solution.

Drug companies keep pushing the use of antibiotics; doctors keep prescribing drugs, patients keep asking for them for every ill; parents and schools keep insisting on using antibacterial cleansers and wipes; and the food industry keeps injecting them into their livestock, which eventually ends up on our tables and in our waterways!

We can become the solution by turning a deaf ear and a blind eye to drug adverts, by questioning your doctors prescription recommendations, by resisting taking antibiotics and using natural alternatives instead   (yes, there are many) resorting only to antibiotic drugs when absolutely necessary, by avoiding buying conventional farm-raised meat and using natural cleaning agents in the home.

recent press release, Dr. Sarah Janssen of the Natural Resources Defense Council is quoted as saying:

“It’s about time FDA has finally stated its concerns about antibacterial chemicals like triclosan.

The public deserves to know that these so-called antibacterial products are no more effective in preventing infections than regular soap and water and may, in fact, be dangerous to their health in the long run.”

Our skin is our first line of defence against any kind of bacteria and has a layer of protective natural oils which needs to be preserved.  Too much washing removes this protective layer.

Therapeutic grade essential oils are natures gifts to us and can be used in place of chemicals produced in laboratories.  To  varying degrees they are all antibacterial, antimicrobial, antifungal, anti-parasitic, anti-inflammatory  and some also act as antihistamines.  We use Young Living Essential Oils for everything!  Among their range of oils they have an oil called Thieves which has been created based on research about four thieves in France who protected themselves with herbs and oils from clove, rosemary and other aromatics while robbing plague victims.   Thieves blend contains clove, rosemary, eucalyptus radiata, cinnamon and lemon and the range includes a pocket spray, household cleaner, thieves essential oil blend, foaming soap and mouthwash.  We use the general household cleaner and other products in the clinic to clean doors and windows, carpet (!), bathroom etc. to reduce exposure to dangerous chemicals.    Since they are a networking company their products can only be obtained through someone who is all ready a customer.  Feel free to quote Chiropractic Life and our number 916953 to obtain at wholesale price.  Contact www.younglivingeurope.com  and use the info above.  In over thirty five years of using essential oils, these are the very best we have found.  There are many oils posing as pure essential oils, however due to labelling laws apparently it is possible to label an oil pure essential oil if it contains one drop (yes you read that right!) one drop of pure essential oil!!  We are confident of the purity of Young Living Therapeutic Oils.
