Hello readers! You may have already been introduced to me by my photo in the clinic, my various blog posts or my parents may have mentioned my name (as I know they do!)
I was born in Australia, lived in New Zealand before going to live in the UK for 9 years and am currently back living in New Zealand. I am here studying at the New Zealand College of Chiropractic and I would like to start sharing with you may experiences here as a student of Chiropractic and a student of life.
A little background about me: I am Richard and Karen McMinn’s daughter, aged 22 and am feeling incredibly excited about my future. I decided to study at the New Zealand College of Chiropractic back in 2006 after attending a life changing and inspirational Chiropractic Seminar. At that time I had just begun studying a BA at The University of Sussex (Anthropology with Cultural Studies). What to do?? Quit my BA and head straight to NZ or see it out. I ended up completing my degree and as soon as it was completed I was on my way – not even waiting for the graduation!
I am very fortunate to have been raised with Chiropractic since the very beginning. Even better – my mum (Karen McMinn) was adjusted while she was pregnant with me, so it really has been from the very start! I can’t think of a better start in life – a nervous system completely working at its optimum – the nervous system being the master controller of the whole body. Surely this has to have a major impact on one’s life. I am sure it allowed me to reach my potential in all areas of my life and subsequently I got through school and the teenage years with relative ease. When I say relative ease, that is probably an understatement. I have never been to a doctor, and rarely get sick unlike a lot of my peers for whom doctor and hospital visits seem routine. The case remains the same for my four older brothers, pretty awesome track record right? I believe this would not have happened without Chiropractic as the “back bone” of our health.
And here I am smiling from ear to ear at the prospect of being a Chiropractor (number 36 in our extended family!) and giving back to the world the very privilege that has been given to me.
I look forward to sharing my experiences as a Chiropractic student, my thoughts, dreams and inspirations with you on a regular basis.
Thankyou for reading and watch this space:) ~ Elise
