Good spinal health requires our attention and a proactive approach to lifestyle – Eating Well, Moving Well and Thinking Well. Everything we think, say, do and be affects our health in some way – if we think otherwise and believe we can get by, eventually our body will let us know  – often in the form of pain – but not always – sometimes dis-ease can begin to manifest without us even being aware of it.  Did you know you can have interferences to your nervous system (housed in the moving bones of the spinal column) without it causing you pain or discomfort?  In fact this is the most common interference – one you are not even aware of!  Those who come to our clinic in pain could be considered the “lucky” ones, since their pain motivates them to do something about it.  Silent “misalignments” are like a dental cavity that begins to form without us even being aware of it – until it decays to the point where it hits a nerve and we think yes! time to get to the dentist.  Those who maintain a regular visit to the dentist are able to prevent those dental cavities from becoming decaying teeth.  In the same way, people who have regular Chiropractic Check ups are “preventing” small problems from becoming large problems which interfere with our health.   Maintaining a healthy overall lifestyle including regular Chiropractic Check Ups (for all the family) will greatly contribute to a healthy spine and healthy nervous system which is the “powerhouse” of our body.

The muscles, bones, and joints of the body need proper alignment to facilitate unhindered movement of messages from the brain to the body, and the body to the brain.  Misalignments are often referred to as “subluxations” by Chiropractors. The word “subluxation” comes from the Latin words meaning “to dislocate” (luxare) and “somewhat or slightly” (sub).   A subluxation means a slight dislocation (misalignment) or biomechanical malfunctioning of the vertebrae (the bones of the spine).   These disturbances may irritate nerve roots and the blood vessels which branch off from the spinal cord between each of the vertebrae.   This irritation may cause pain and/or dysfunction in muscle, lymphatic and organ tissue, as well as neurologic imbalance in the normal body processes which rarely, if ever correct on their own.
